  • Izu Kogen Granpal Park
    Located in Izu. "Granpal Park”
    Although it's called a park, it's quite large and feels like an amusement park.
    It has become famous for its "Grand Illumi" at night, but you can also enjoy it during the day.
    It's about 60 minutes from Shimoda, so we recommend using it for travelling to and from the area.

  • Izu Animal Kingdom
    Izu Animal Kingdom is the closest zoo to Shimoda.
    It's about a 45-minute drive from the cottage, so please stop by on your way there or back.
    A variety of animals, including zebras and giraffes, live in a spacious area that is close to nature.
    I am spending my time freely.You can see white tigers, feed giraffes, and even have the chance to interact with hedgehogs and capybaras.
    There is also an amusement park with a Ferris wheel and other rides, so you can have fun all day.

  • Shimoda Undersea Aquarium
    An aquarium floating on the sea offers an experience you can't get in the city.
    For example, you can experience touching dolphins.
    You can experience feeding dolphins, touching them, and swimming with them.
    There are experiences where you can just keep your clothes on, and there are also full-fledged diving experiences where you dive wearing a wetsuit and underwater mask.
    You can see Shimoda's various marine creatures, and there are also plenty of events such as dolphin shows, sea lion shows, and penguin walks.

  • Enjoy until the beginning of May! Bamboo shoot hunting experience.
    You can enjoy digging for bamboo shoots at Ichijo Takenoko Village until May 5th.
    They will lend you everything you need, including boots and hoes.
    There is also a restaurant next door, where you can enjoy delicious bamboo shoot dishes.

  • Kisami Ohama Beach
    This is the beach closest to the cottage.
    A beach with white sand and crystal clear water.
    Customers who come for the first time will be impressed.
    Popular with foreign customers.
    Parking is available for a fee starting July 15th.
  • Iritahama Beach
    This is the first beach heading towards Shimoda from the cottage.
    "Fermenco" is a stylish pizzeria run by a couple who immigrated from Tokyo last year.
    With the creation of the authentic taco dish ``MAREA'', Irita's popularity is skyrocketing.
    The waves are also relatively calm compared to Ohama and Tatado, so it's good for families with children.
  • Tatado Beach
    A mecca for surfing.Tournaments may also be held.
    There is a surf shop called "Bagus" nearby, where you can try your hand at surfing.
    Of course, swimming in the sea is also OK.
    During the summer, the area is divided into a swimming area and a surfing area.
  • Sotoura Beach
    About 20 minutes by car from the cottage.
    The beach is in a bay, so the waves are very calm, making it the perfect beach for families with children.
    The sea is highly transparent and beautiful.
    There is also a popular bakery "Sotoura Kaigan Bakery DOUG" nearby.
    It opens from 7 a.m., so we recommend getting there early and enjoying some bread and spending time by the sea.

    There are various beach huts, so if you want to enjoy food as well, we recommend these.
    It takes about 15 minutes by car from the cottage.
  • Shirahama Ohama Beach
    Shirahama Ohama Beach has long been popular among young people.
    White sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.The beach is also popular with surfers.
    Shirahama Shrine is located right next door, and is popular as the shrine for matchmaking and improving romantic ability.
    The torii gates standing on the coast have become a hot topic as they look great on social media.
    In the summer, various food trucks line the national highway, making it very lively.

  • Oura Coast
    This is the place to go for fun on the rocks.

  • Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival/Southern Cherry Blossom and Nanohana Festival(middle of February)
    The Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is about 40 minutes by car from Sunnyside Cottage.

    Street stalls are lined up along with the deep pink Kawazu cherry blossoms that bloom along the river.
    It is a famous festival that attracts 500,000 visitors.
    The Southern Cherry Blossom and Nanohana Festival is about 15 minutes by car from the cottage.
    Kawazu cherry blossoms and rape blossoms are in full bloom along the Aono River in Minamiizu Town.
    If you want to enjoy eating at food stalls, the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is the place to go.
    If you want to enjoy beautiful scenery, we recommend the Minami Cherry Blossom and Nanohana Festival.

  • Shimoda Park Hydrangea Festival(June)
    In Shimoda Park, a 10-minute drive from the cottage, you can enjoy the hydrangea season.
    150,000 plants and 3 million flowers of various kinds of hydrangeas will be in full bloom.

    This is a place where you can see the cityscape of Shimoda and Shimoda Port through the hydrangeas.

  • Gin no Yu Kaikan
    A day-trip hot spring run by Izu Town.
    In February, you can see Kawazu cherry blossoms from the open-air bath, so you can soak in the hot spring while viewing the cherry blossoms.

    We recommend sleeping in the bath while looking up at the sky.
